CHASE: Chasing a bet for me might mean a little different from the popular meaning of a chase bet. For most sport bettors a Chase bet might mean betting on an underdog, really popular in baseball being that they play a series of three games or more. Lets say Royals are playing Yankees in a three game series, you would've to bet on the royals to win with this type of betting style. Basically your game plan would be, you would bet $25 on the Royals game one, if you happen to lose then game two you would have to bet $50 on the Royals, lose that game then game three you would have to wager $100 on the royals. The goal being that you are trying to win one game of that series because the odds for a game like this would probably be somewhere around +300. So let's say Royals end up winning in game three. You would have made a profit of about $125, not bad for going 1 for 2. The Chase betting strategy can be implemented in various ways, depending on the bettors style of betting. It is not a bad strategy to use if you have the bank roll to do it.
For me though chasing a bet means chasing a lost wager. Meaning that lets say you place a two team parlay during the day and you end up losing. Instead of taking the loss and moving on you decide to search for a secondary wager. A wager that you probably wouldn't be placing if you had won that first wager. I have had this happen to me lots and lots of times, especially during the first few years of my sports gambling. I would place a wager that I really like and when I would lose that wager I would get angry, frustrated, and impatient. With all my emotions mixed together, this really brings a fine recipe for disaster. I would begin to search for games that would be on later on that evening and try to place another bet. This type of bet is considered to me as a chase bet. You are angry and in no condition to make a reasonable wager at this point. All you are thinking about is, I can not believe I just lost my last wager, now I am going to place another wager, because I don't have the patience to wait for a new day and start fresh. I am not saying that you will always lose chasing a lost wager, but I am saying betting when you are already angry isn't aways the best time to make decisions about a new game you want to wager on. The best thing I've noticed is after losing a game, especially a parlay that comes down to the last team and that last team losses, is to take a breather, curse the crap out of the team that cost you the parlay, and wait until the next day or next time you see a wager you really like and place that bet then.
